What we do
About our Drama School
PlayAct drama school is an inclusive drama in education experience. Children instinctively enjoy playing and pretending. Through the process of dramatic play students will enjoy learning while having lots of fun. At PlayAct drama school the students lead the way in the drama sessions by mixing improvisational play with structured classes. Our workshops are designed in close consideration with the primary school curriculum
Benefits for Students
Encouraging students to take risks in drama class and performing for one another teaches students to trust their ideas and abilities. The confidence gained in drama class applies to school, career and developing life skills.
Students get to pretend and play different characters through vocal expression and through their body language. They get the opportunity to role-play different situations, time periods and cultures. This promotes compassion, tolerance and understanding for other people’s feelings and points
Drama enhances verbal and non-verbal expression of ideas. This improves voice projection, articulation of words, fluency with language, and persuasive speech. Listening and observation skills develop by playing and participating in drama and theatre exercises, being an audience, rehearsing, and performing.
The physical movement in drama improves control and balance, coordination and flexibility.
Through creative play, repetition, rehearsing, performing words, movement, and cues strengthen the memory muscle.
Happy Children and Happy Parents
“Drama has had a huge impact on my life since I was 8 years old. As a child I was shy and under confident. This made it difficult for me to express myself. My mother took the lead and enrolled me in Therese O’Donovan’s Speech & Drama classes. I quickly found a life long love for Speech & Drama. I would be the first person to class each week. Through my weekly classes I became more confident amongst my peers, more comfortable in the classroom and quickly blossomed into a happier, well rounded individual. This affected my whole school experience and my ability to be happy and enjoy learning. It is because of my own experience as a child that I wanted to set up a drama school that focuses on a positive learning experience for each student.”

This is our Mission
Our mission is to empower each student to reach their full potential through drama, theatre, and performance.
Our lead instructor, Adrienne Lee, understands what it is like to be the shy kid in the room. Through her own experience with drama and theatre since the age of 8, Adrienne has found unique ways to instruct, empower, and encourage students to new heights in their performance abilities. Our goal at PlayAct is to use various teaching techniques such as improvisation, mime and movement, devising stories of their own, and so much more to enhance children’s existing speech and acting abilities. At PlayAct, we aim to inspire your child to speak, interact, and create their own identity through developmental creative play.
